At 4Gen Logistics, sustainability isn’t just a checkbox—it’s a core part of who we are. As a fourth-generation, family-owned company, we understand the responsibility that comes with moving goods through communities, cities, and ports. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to lead the industry in clean emissions and sustainable logistics practices.

Our Clean Emissions Mission

We’re proud to be among the first drayage companies in California to fully commit to zero-emission transportation. With operations centered around the Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles—two of the busiest freight gateways in the country—we know that every truck, every trip, and every decision makes a difference.

Our fleet is evolving rapidly, and we’ve already made significant investments in:

  • Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) including Class 8 Volvo VNRs and Kenworth T680E electric trucks

  • Hydrogen fuel cell technology

  • 30 new Hyper-Fast chargers at our Port of Long Beach facility, installed in collaboration with Electrify America

  • Strategic infrastructure to support multiple shifts and full-day operations with clean energy

These upgrades aren’t just a reaction to mandates—they’re a proactive step toward our goal of a 100% zero-emissions fleet by 2025.

What is the SmartWay Excellence Award?

The SmartWay Excellence Award, created by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), is given annually to freight carriers and shippers who demonstrate outstanding environmental performance. Winners lead the industry in reducing greenhouse gases, improving fuel efficiency, and advancing clean freight strategies.

4Gen Logistics is proud to be aligned with the standards set by SmartWay and to be part of a logistics ecosystem that values environmental responsibility.

Why It Matters

Transportation emissions are one of the largest contributors to air pollution and climate change. In Southern California—where ports, highways, and industrial activity converge—the impact is even greater. By transitioning our fleet to zero-emission vehicles and investing in clean charging infrastructure, we’re reducing harmful emissions in the communities where we live and operate.

But clean logistics isn’t just about trucks—it’s about people. It’s about our drivers, our families, and future generations. We believe that clean air and strong business performance can coexist—and we’re proving it every day.

The Future of Sustainable Drayage

At 4Gen, we’re not waiting for the future of logistics—we’re building it. We’ll continue pushing forward with technology, infrastructure, and partnerships that allow us to move freight more responsibly. Our work is far from done, but the road ahead is electric.
